Background
Humans, beasts and monsters once lived together in a land called Mir. Humans were, however, much weaker than the beasts and monsters and thus they were forced to form alliances for self-defense. One day, a new mysterious race arrived in Mir and changed the balance of power. This new species quickly mastered all kinds of skills and soon dominated the land.
This new race taught humans the use of fire and other important survival tools. Once the humans learned these skills, they began to break free from their fear of the beasts and monsters. Soon, the humans began to expand their presence in Mir and eventually they established their own country and their own civilization. Although it is said that the ancient civilization of the humans possessed a rich cultural beyond our imagination, that civilization along with the mysterious race that helped the humans, was all but destroyed in a mysterious explosion.
Some humans did, however, survive the destruction. Although those survivors and their offspring struggled to rebuild their civilization, resources were in short supply and memories of the once great civilization quickly began to fade. The humans did gradually succeed in constructing several cities, but the greatness of Mir has not yet been restored. Although the memories of Mir grow faint, the legend of Mir continues to live in the hearts of humans everywhere as they carry on their struggle to conquer the beasts and monsters, and to restore their once great civilization.

The Sign is a 3D MMORPG that Shanda developed in-house with our proprietany own 3D game engine. The game adopts an innovative wide-screen film interface, which resembles the appearance of a film shown in a movie theater. Chen Kaige, renowned director of the film Farewell My Concubine, was the art director for The Sign, and He Xuntian, composer of Sister Drum, created the music. Users may choose their game characters from three professions : warriors, warlocks and magicians. When users characters travel throughout the game's virtual world, their customized weapons and facial expression bring to life the graphics of our first 3D game.

Background
According to an ancient Chinese legend, Emperor Huang defeated his enemy Chi You with the help of fairies. To mark this glorious victory, Emperor Huang harnessed heaven, earth and the underworld to forge an enormous copper vessel. Later, Emperor Huang left the magic vessel behind on earth when he joined his ancestors in heaven. According to the legend, this magic vessel was a passage to to heaven, and to hell.
Thousands of years later, Huo Lei, a barbarian commander, found the magic vessel and build a city of iron to defend it. That iron, however, was used to support the weight of heaven. Without it heaven collapsed, and the celestial powers of good as well as the underworld powers of evil returned to the earth in search of the magic vessel.
