Shanda's History
Nov. 1999
 
Shanda was founded and introduced Home Valley, an online virtual community for gamers. This community became dominant in the Chinese game market.
Sep.2001
 
Shanda introduced The Legend of Mir II, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game or MMORPG.  Shortly after its launch, The Legend of Mir II became gold certified in terms of sales and remains one of the most popular game in the industry .
May. 2002
 
Shanda established its 24/7 Customer Service Center, the leader in the industry. The Customer Service Center provides services for players via interactive chat, telephone, mail, fax and forums.

The number of peak concurrent users for The Legend of Mir II exceeded 600,000.
Mar. 2003
 
SB Asia Infrastructure Fund, L.P. invested US$40 million in the Company.

Shanda introduced electronic payment services.

Shanda launched The World of Legend (“Woool”), its first in-house developed online game.

Shanda acquired Chengdu Jisheng Technology Co., Ltd., a leading developer and distributor of management software programs for Internet cafes.

Shanda acquired Beijing Digital-Red Software Application Technology Co., Ltd., a leading provider of software based on Nokia Symbian OS and J2ME.
Additionally, Shanda acquired Zona, Inc., a US-based developer of online game engines.
May. 2004
 
Shanda completed its IPO on NASDAQ under the trading symbol “SNDA”.
July. 2004
 
Shanda acquired Shanghai Haofang Online Information Technology Co., Ltd., a leading network PC game platform in China.
Shanda acquired Hangzhou Bianfeng Software Technology Co., Ltd., a leading developer and operator of chess and board games in China.

Shanda acquired Qidian (www.cmfu.com), China’s largest Chinese original literature portal.
Peak concurrent users for BNB exceeded 700,000, making it the world’s largest game in terms of peak concurrent users.
Nov. 2004
 
Shanda acquired a controlling stake in Actoz Soft Co. Ltd, a South Korean online game developer and publisher.
Dec. 2005
 
Shanda completed its acquisition of “Gametea,” a leading platform for chess and board games in China.
Shanda launched EZ Pod in China.
May .2006
 
Shanda teamed up with The Walt Disney Company to introduce the Disney-themed entertainment products in China.
July .2007
 
Shanda acquired Chengdu Aurora Technology Development Co. Ltd, a renowned developer and operator of Fengyun Online.
Shanda introduced three major investment plans, “Feng Yun,” “18Plan” and “20Plan” to further promote the long term development of Chinese online games.
Nov. 2007
  Shanda announced a strategic alliance with NCsoft.
